How To Make A Vision Board That Actually Works

Ever wonder how you can turn your dreams into a reality? A great way to start is with manifestation. Set your intentions, believe it will become a reality, then couple that with hard work to take active steps to turn your ideas into reality! No matter what your goals are for this new year, a great way to start is by creating a vision board to inspire you towards all your goals.

What is a vision board?

A vision board is a visual representation of your goals. Whether it's to travel more, grow in your career, spend more time with friends and family, or to practice self-care, a vision board can act as a constant reminder for you to take steps towards these goals!

Why is visualization so powerful?

When you create a vision board and place it in a place where you can see it throughout the day, your mind is subconsciously exercising goal-setting and keeps your focused on the goals you set at the beginning of the year. You may not even realize your mind is doing it, but having your vision board nearby helps you to develop a mindset to reach those goals on a daily basis.

What should I put on my vision board?

Take some time to think about what your goals for the year are. Some common topics are:

  • Career/finances
  • Home
  • Travel
  • Friends/family
  • Romantic relationships
  • Personal growth
  • Health

Reflect on these areas of your life and decide what you'd like to improve on or continue to nourish. Write down these goals and aspirations to help plan what images and words will help you fill up your vision board.

Should I have multiple vision boards or just one?

Essentially it's up to you, but we suggest just one. Having a single vision board allows you to place it wherever you want and you can take a look at your goals in one place rather than pulling up different boards for different aspects of your life.

How do I create it?

Your vision board can include anything that inspires you! We love looking through Pinterest or Unsplash to find images and quotes that can motivate you towards achieving your goals. Go through each of your goals and think about what that would look like in your life.

For example, if one of your goals is to travel abroad, include photos of the countries that you wish to visit. If your goal is to be healthier, include photos of nutritious salads and yoga poses. If you'd like to read more, find images of someone reading a book.

Then look up inspirational and motivational quotes to include throughout your board, plus think of single words that sum up your intentions for the year (ex: 'growth', 'balance', health'). We suggest using Canva to group all these images and words together into a vision board!

Now that I created my vision board, where do I put it?

Place your board in places that you always look. This can be your phone background and your computer wallpaper, or you can also print it out and put it on a bulletin board in your home! The idea is to have it be very accessible where you can always see it so your mind can be subconsciously working towards those goals.
